A Friend
to the World

Pedro Galicia was born on January 16, 1981 in South Bend, Indiana, and spent his life doing the one thing he believed in most: building community around the things he loved.

After graduating from Washington High School in 1999, Pedro went to work at the St. Joseph County Public Library, where he founded Save-Point — a teenage outreach program where kids could spend their after-school hours playing video games and board games, and competing in tournaments. He was proud of every kid who found community and comfort there. Even after he left the library, Pedro never stopped creating communities around him.

A lifelong Dungeons & Dragons enthusiast, Pedro spent over 20 years organizing, writing, and leading campaigns with his friends. In 2016 he launched World Walkers, his most ambitious creation — a multiverse of interconnected homebrew worlds he'd been building for decades, now shared with the world as a podcast. Over the next five years he produced over 300 episodes across four shows, building a warm global community of listeners along the way.

Pedro also expressed his love of gaming through his webcomics Rule Zero and MOBS, and through his beloved brother Frankie, with whom he made Colossus Vs The World — a joyful, chaotic podcast that is its own kind of treasure.

He lived for his two most important people: his spouse Jess, and his child Willow.

After a long battle with cancer, Pedro passed away on July 30, 2021, at age 40, at home, surrounded by family and friends.

"Pedro believed that the point of life was to have fun with the people that you love. In lieu of flowers, tell a story, joke, or sing with others. Remember him by spreading radical compassion to your neighbor and the world."
